Member of the Syntrophomonadacea, genus includes thermotolerant proteolytic species. The type species is Caloramator fervidus (Patel et al. 1987) a new combination by COLLINS, LAWSON, WILLEMS, CORDOBA, FERNANDEZ-GARAYZABAL, GARCIA, CAI, HIPPE and FARROW. 1994.
