Description:
Lepidopteran scale (i.e. scale from moth or flutterby). Flat, tapered at one end, ridged, sometimes cross-ridged, sometimes coloured. This scale has been dislodged from the wing of a moth or butterfly (Lepidoptera). Commonly found in detrital material from terrestrial and freshwater habitats. Bright field.
