Description:
2013-01-12 Vienna, district III., Schweizergarten, cultivars - Excursion Fischer (198 msm Quadrant 7864/1).German name: Kaukasische FlgelnussThis very peculiar species is native of the Caspian (Hyrcanian) flora province: its bark is extremely rough, so are its roots (which typically are growing a ring of young shoots around the main stem) and its fruit. It is not so very often cultivated in parks, probably because gardeners aren't too fond of the root shoots it produces.
