: Valued image This image has been assessed under the valued image criteria and is considered the most valued image on Commons within the scope: Leptodirus hochenwartii. You can see its nomination here. Description: English: The blind cave beetle Leptodirus hochenwartii (fam. Leiodidae) from a cave in the Inner Carniola region, Slovenia (more precise locality not given due to conservational concerns); the animal is around 1 cm long The bright colors are partly due to the flash; under natural light, the colors are much less obvious. When the flash fires, the head and the thorax appear reddish due to reflection (its exoskeleton is very thin and almost translucent). V naravni svetlobi je barva oprsja in glave bolj rjava; na sliki sta zaradi uporabe bliskavice, katere svetloba preseva skozi tanek zunanji skelet, rdečkasta. Equipment used: Canon 40D, lens: Canon MP-E 65mm, flash: Twin-lite MT-24EX. Date: 7 May 2009. Source: Own work. Author: Yerpo.
