In fact the moths pretty much stopped flying altogether at about 11pm when the wind got up and it felt a lot cooler (despite being 17 degrees still!) What we did get was singles of some nice species, including 2 migrants a White-point and a Dark Sword-grass. I got one new moth for myself, although extremely worn it can only be a Juniper Pug as it has been recorded at Roughdown Common before and we were trapping next to several Juniper bushes. 05/09/13 - Gadesprings - Hemel Hempstead - 1x 125w MV Robinson, 1x 80w Actinic Trap and 1x 22w Actinic/26w CFL Trap run from 8.00pm until 12.30am - Roughdown Common - Hemel Hempstead - 1x 125w MV Robinson Trap & 1x 160w MBT Trap run from 8.30pm until 12.00am 67 Species in total 27 Macro Moths & 18 Micro Moths An extra 22 species from Gadesprings Macro Moths 2x Barred Sallow 10x Brimstone Moth 1x Brindled Green 2x Broad-bordered Yellow 6x Centre-barred Sallow 6x Common Carpet 3x Common Marbled Carpet 2x Common Wainscot 7x Copper Underwing 2x Double-striped Pug 10x Flame Shoulder 8x Green Carpet 1x Juniper Pug [NEW!] 5x Large Yellow Underwing 2x Lesser Yellow Underwing 1x Light Emerald 3x Purple Bar 5x Setaceous Hebrew Character 1x Shuttle-shaped Dart 1x Silver-Y 3x Small Square-spot 1x Snout 20x Square-spot Rustic 6x Straw Dot 1x White-point 2x Yellow shell 3x Yellow-barred Brindle Micro Moths 1x Bactra sp 1x Orthopygia glaucinalis 1x Cochylimorpha straminea 1x Acentria ephemerella 1x Blastobasis adustella 2x Agonopterix arenella 3x Agonopterix heracliana 5x Pandemis corylana 2x Cameraria ohridella 2x Cydia pomonella 1x Prays ruficeps 1x Galleria mellonella 2x Epinotia ramella 1x Celypha lacunana 1x Caloptilia robustella 1x Caloptilia syringella 1x Apotomis betuletana 1x Pleuroptya ruralis Extra species at Gadesprings were as follows Macro Moths 1x Dark Sword-grass 1x Garden Carpet 1x Dusky Thorn 1x Grey Dagger 1x Turnip Moth 3x Feathered Gothic 1x Vine's Rustic 1x Oak Hook-tip 2x Old Lady 1x Angle Shades 1x Common Rustic 1x Common Wave 2x Sallow Micro Moths 1x Ypsolopha sequella 5x Elachista maculicerusella 1x Clepsis consimilana 2x Clepsis spectrana 1x Eudonia sp 1x Endrosis sarcitrella 1x Caloptilia semifascia 1x Mompha subbistrigella 1x Zeiraphera isertana.
