Leaves are basal, linear, 20–80 cm long, 1–5 mm wide, biconvex to terete, grooved, hairless, and slightly glaucous. Spathe bracts are 2.5–5 cm long and green to brown, with a dark brown scarious margin. Perianth tube is 2.5–3.5 cm long. Outer tepals are 12–23 mm long and pale violet to blue-violet; inner lobes are 1–2 mm long. Filaments exserted 2–3 mm, almost completely fused. Ovary is hairless and inferior.
