They usually attacks deer, occasionally horses or humans; they may transmit the bacterium: Bartonella schoenbuchensis. This deer fly had broke off its wings - or the wings broke off when I grabbed her - and tried to pierce my neck, before I replaced her on this tissue for shooting.
