HandlingBigPike
Description:
Description: English: By inserting the fingers at the gill opening it is possible to get hold of the pikes lower jaw. Be careful not to enter the fingers too deep, because the inside of the pikes mouth and the gill rakers are covered with sharp teeth. Big pike should also be supported by the belly to reduce the tension put on the jaw. Other than that this is the recommended fish and angler friendly way to handle pike. Pike (Esox lucius, 96 cm caught with seine net for research purposes, taken at Lauwersmeer, Friesland, The Netherlands. Date: 4 October 2008. Source: Own work. Author: Viridiflavus.
