Description: Artemisia nova co-occurs in patches among stands of Artemisia tridentata wyomingensis and Artemisia arbuscula in this upland area southwest of the Hart Mountain National Antelope Refuge and perhaps where substrates with a shallow hardpan. The leaves are distinctly green and resinous. The early leaves (on long shoots) are deeply divided compared to the later leaves (on short shoots). In this area, Artemisia nova is distinctly shorter statured compared to Artemisia arbuscula. Bromus tectorum is confined to the roadside in this region of upland sagebrush steppe.
