Mauritian Tomb Bat (Taphozous mauritianus), Ankarafantsika, Madagascar (4954601173)

Image of Taphozous subgen. Taphozous E. Geoffroy 1818

Description:

Description: Digiscoping with Swarovski ATM 80 HD 30 X, Coolpix P5100 (Adapter DCB) The two bats on this picture are an adult female and her almost fully grown pup. The pup (above) is recognisable by its more greyish fur. Thanks to Erik Korsten for drawing my attention to this! The spines on the left belong to the bark of the Sandbox tree (Hura crepitans), native to the Americas. This is an invasive alien species to Madagascar. I saw many Sandbow trees along the main road crossing the National Park. Date: 17 December 2008, 07:45. Source: Mauritian Tomb Bat (Taphozous mauritianus), Ankarafantsika, Madagascar.
