Phormium colensoi (Mountain Flax) is a species of perennial herb in the family Asphodelaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They have simple, broad leaves and capsule fruit. Flowers are visited by Tui, Buff-tailed bumblebee, Honey bee, and Bellbird. Individuals can grow to 2.3 m.
