Microcavia australis (Southern Mountain Cavy) is a species of rodents in the family guinea pigs. They are native to The Neotropics. They are diurnal herbivores. Individuals can grow to 200 mm. Reproduction is viviparous. They have parental care (female provides care). They rely on running to move around.
