Ruppia cirrhosa (Spiral Ditchgrass) is a species of perennial herb in the family Ruppiaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Alaska, U.S. Virgin Islands, North America, Canada, The Contiguous United States, and Puerto Rico. They have simple, broad leaves. Spiral Ditchgrass form sea grass beds. Individuals can grow to 0.37 m.

  • Definition: Seagrass beds are highly diverse and productive ecosystems, and can harbour hundreds of associated species from all phyla. They partly create their own habitat: the leaves slow down water-currents increasing sedimentation, and the seagrass roots and rhizomes stabilize the seabed.
