They are native to Caatinga, Amazônia, ParaíBa, Minas Gerais, Paraná, RondôNia, Acre (Brazil), The Contiguous United States, Sergipe, Bahia, Piauí, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Roraima, Alagoas, Rio De Janeiro, Amapá, Cerrado, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande Do Sul, Pará, GoiáS, Mata Atlântica, Pampa, Pantanal, Ceará, Distrito Federal, Mato Grosso, Pernambuco, U.S. Virgin Islands, Maranhao, Espirito Santo, SãO Paulo, Tocantins, Rio Grande Do Norte, and Puerto Rico. They have simple, broad leaves and yellow flowers. Flowers are visited by Halictonomia decemmaculata. Individuals can grow to 2.8 m.
