Carex echinata (Star Sedge) is a species of perennial herb in the family sedges. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Alaska, Saint-Pierre Et Miquelon, The Hawaiian Islands, Hawaii, Canada, The Contiguous United States, and North America. They have simple, broad leaves and green flowers. Individuals can grow to 1.5 feet.
