Cricetomys gambianus (Gambian Rat) is a species of rodents in the family Nesomyidae. They are native to Democratic Republic Of The Congo, Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Gabon, Kenya, Central African Republic, Gambia, Mauritania, Guinea-Bissau, Benin, Chad, Liberia, Sudan, Uganda, Mozambique, Angola, South Africa, Equatorial Guinea, Niger, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Togo, Mali, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Burundi, Ghana, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Botswana, and Zambia. They are solitary, nocturnal omnivores. Individuals can grow to 362.64 mm. They have parental care (female provides care). They rely on running to move around.
