Symphyotrichum ascendens (Western Aster) is a species of perennial herb in the family Asteraceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to The Contiguous United States, Canada, and The Americas. They have simple, broad leaves and achenes. Flowers are visited by Halictus ligatus, Hemipenthes morioides, Heriades variolosa, and Leafcutter bee. Individuals can grow to 0.097 m.
