Gopherus agassizii (Desert Tortoise) is a species of turtles in the family tortoises. They are listed as critically endangered by IUCN and in cites appendix ii. They are native to The Nearctic and United States. They are solitary, diurnal herbivores. They have sexual reproduction. Reproduction is oviparous. They have parental care (female provides care).
