Modiolus areolatus (Gould 1850)

Modiolus areolatus is a species of mussels in the family Mytilidae. They are native to New Zealand Exclusive Economic Zone and Australian Exclusive Economic Zone. Adult Modiolus areolatus form marine reefs. Individuals can grow to 42.2 mm. They have sexual reproduction.
