Pinctada margaritifera (Black Lip Pearl Oyster) is a species of mussels in the family Margaritidae. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to Mozambican Exclusive Economic Zone and the Palearctic. Dead Black Lip Pearl Oyster form shallow marine sediments. They are solitary. Individuals can grow to 25 cm. They have sexual reproduction. They have parental care (female provides care).
