Donax variabilis (Butterfly Shell) is a species of mussels in the family Donacidae. They are native to Atlantic Ocean and The Nearctic. Dead Butterfly Shell form shallow marine sediments. They are detritivores. Individuals can grow to 22.7 mm. They have sexual reproduction.
