Atherina boyeri (Big Scale Sand Smelt) is a species of ray-finned fishes in the family Old World silversides. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are carnivores. Individuals can grow to 20 cm. They have sexual reproduction. Reproduction is oviparous and iteroparous.
