Centaurea solstitialis (Yellow Star Thistle) is a species of annual herb in the family Asteraceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to Albania, Algeria, Iraq, Armenia, Bulgaria, Lebanon, Italy, Azerbaijan, Spain, Tunisia, Russia, Iran, Yugoslavia, Greece, Turkmenistan, France, Turkey, Western North America, Syria, Georgia, Tajikistan, and Ukraine. They have simple, broad leaves and achene. Flowers are visited by Woodland Skipper, small white, Honey bee, and Junonia grisea. Individuals can grow to 0.54 m.
