Urtica dioica (Common Nettle) is a species of perennial herb in the family Urticaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to The Contiguous United States, Alaska, Western North America, United States, Canada, and Saint-Pierre Et Miquelon. They have simple, broad leaves and achenes. Flowers are visited by Red Admiral, Sceliphron destillatorium, and Lorquin's Admiral. Individuals can grow to 0.96 m.
