They are native to Cerrado, RondôNia, Distrito Federal, The Contiguous United States, Santa Catarina, Minas Gerais, Espirito Santo, GoiáS, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Amazônia, Mato Grosso, Bahia, Mata Atlântica, SãO Paulo, Rio Grande Do Sul, Rio De Janeiro, US Minor Outlying Islands, U.S. Virgin Islands, Caatinga, Paraná, Acre (Brazil), Roraima, Pará, Maranhao, Puerto Rico, and Amapá. They have simple, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 12 m.
