They are native to Puerto Rico, Oceania continent (Australia, NZ and islands), Hawaii, U.S. Virgin Islands, The Contiguous United States, and Pacific Basin excluding Hawaii. Flowers are visited by Honey bee, null, Amegilla, and Hylephila phyleus. Individuals can grow to 2.4 m.
