Leaf blades 30–150 × 5–25 mm, margins dentate to pinnately lobed. Involucres 5–15+ × 5–10+ mm. Cypselae 1–1.5 mm; pappi: scales 0.3–0.5 mm, bristles 3.5–4+ mm. 2n = 18.

Tolpis barbata is a species of flowering plant in the family Asteraceae known by the common name European umbrella milkwort.[1] It is native to southern Europe, including the Mediterranean, namely in Portugal, Spain, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and the British territory of Gibraltar[2][3] and it is known in many other places as an introduced species and a common weed, such as in California[4] and New South Wales.[5]
