Weinmannia racemosa is an abundant forest tree in New Zealand, where it is an endemic species. Example locations of occurrence are in the Catlins and on Rakiura Island, both locations on South Island.

Known by the common Maori name of Kamahi, this species can attain a height of up to 25 metres. It manifests distinctive creamy white flowers in erect spike form.
