Hemiparasitic shrubs, arising from a single haustorial attachment; bearing scales and stellate and dendritic hairs. Flowers in umbels or in clusters of 2-7 in the axils; bract unilateral. Corolla 5-lobed with a short V-slit at anthesis; tube ± swollen at each end; lobes shorter than the rube, erect or reflexed, hardened and shiny inside; filaments attached at base of lobes, short, inflexed or inrolled. Berry often blue or blue-green.
