They are native to Mata Atlântica, Mato Grosso, Cerrado, Maranhao, Amazônia, Distrito Federal, Tocantins, Bahia, Roraima, The Neotropics, Rio Grande Do Norte, Espirito Santo, ParaíBa, Piauí, Alagoas, Acre (Brazil), Ceará, Minas Gerais, Pará, Caatinga, GoiáS, RondôNia, Amapá, Pernambuco, Rio De Janeiro, and Sergipe. They have compound, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 27 m.
