They are native to Amazônia, SãO Paulo, Bahia, Roraima, Amapá, GoiáS, Sergipe, Mata Atlântica, Alagoas, Acre (Brazil), Mato Grosso Do Sul, Paraná, Rio De Janeiro, Mato Grosso, Pantanal, Espirito Santo, Tocantins, Ceará, ParaíBa, Pernambuco, RondôNia, Piauí, Maranhao, Distrito Federal, Minas Gerais, Rio Grande Do Norte, Pará, Caatinga, and Cerrado. They have compound, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Chionomesa fimbriata nigricauda. Individuals can grow to 6.9 m.
