2008.05.18: Austria, Vienna XXII. district, 154 m AMSL, heath (Lobau Heisslnde): leaves and fruit.Leaves appear quite early in spring and wither till june/july when the fruit will be ripe; they're long gone when they start to flower again in august.German name: Herbstzeitlose.

2013-03-16 Lower Austria, district Gnserndorf - Eckartsau, Danube National ParkGerman name: HerbstzeitloseMany people think that ramsons (Allium ursinum) could be harvested early in spring without any danger of getting any poisonous doppelgangers. This is not true: Colchicum autumnale is out at the same time already. So the best method, as always, is harvesting ramsons only if you're absolutely sure to recognise the plant even blindfolded (which by the way really is easy).Viele Leute glauben, dass man Br-Lauch (Allium ursinum)ganz zeitig im Frhjahr gefahrlos pflcken kann.

2008.08.24: Austria, Vienna XXII. district, 151 m AMSL, heath (Lobau Heisslnde): habitus. The plant does not grow any leaves when flowering: leaves (and fruits) only can be seen in spring and early summer.German name: Herbstzeitlose.

2011-08-05 Vienna XXII. district, Lobau National Park (153 msm Quadrant 7865/1).German name: HerbstzeitloseThis is the first flowering one I saw this year (that is, except for
this var. vernale, obviously).Usually, flowering season begins only in mid august (around 15th at the earliest, more typical would be between 20th and 25th); 5th of august is extraordinarily early. However, it is the only one I saw on this day - while in full bloom there are thousands upon thousands of them, on the meadows of Lobau.
