Hemispherical umbrella with central part fairly thick; large, circular stomach with sixteen rectangular pouches with indicationsof slight median clefts; eight large primary tentacles issuing at level of top of stomach, with peronia running to umbrella margin; 3-5 secondary tentacles on umbrella margin in each octant; one or two sensory clubs between adjacent secondary tentacles; deep brown or purplish black stomach pouches; umbrella up to 45 mm wide.

Aeginura grimaldii is a species of deep sea hydrozoan of the family Aeginidae.[1] It is found in the north-eastern Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, and the Arctic Ocean. It has a depth range of 660-1200m deep. Live specimens are bright reddish in color, with pale tentacles, and a light red globous capsule dome containing the dark colored red body. It usually measures no more than 4.5cm from the peak of the bell to the end of the tentacles.
