Physarum echinosporum Lister, Jour. Bot. 37: 147. 1899
Plasmodiocarpous, usually curved, strongly compressed laterally, chalky white, dehiscent at the upper margin; peridium double, the outer layer smooth, calcareous, the inner membranous, pale purple, iridescent; capillitium dense, the nodes large, white, angular, the internodes short, hyaline; spores purple, marked with conspicuous ridges and spines, 8 n in diameter (according to Lister), 11-14 p in diameter (according to Boedijn).
Type locality: Antigua.
Habitat: Dead leaves and branches.
Distribution: Antigua; Dutch East Indies.
