Acartia tonsa is a species of copepods in the family Acartiidae. They are native to Indian Ocean, Oceania continent (Australia, NZ and islands), Ethiopia, Asia, and Pacific Ocean. They are nocturnal omnivores. Individuals can grow to 1.5 mm. They have parental care (female provides care). They rely on swimming and drag powered swimming to move around.
