Apis mellifera is a species of Hymenoptera in the family Apidae. They are native to Ethiopia and the Palearctic. They visit flowers of white clover, Mentha, Lavandula, and Cosmos bipinnatus. They are diurnal herbivores. Individuals can grow to 18 mm. They have parental care (female provides care). They rely on flight to move around.
