Genipa americana (Jagua) is a species of tree in the family Rubiaceae. They are native to Tocantins, Acre (Brazil), Sergipe, Rio De Janeiro, ParaíBa, Pantanal, Ceará, Mato Grosso Do Sul, U.S. Virgin Islands, Espirito Santo, Piauí, Alagoas, Pará, Paraná, Distrito Federal, Santa Catarina, Cerrado, Maranhao, Mata Atlântica, GoiáS, Amazônia, Rio Grande Do Norte, Roraima, Minas Gerais, Puerto Rico, Pernambuco, SãO Paulo, Bahia, Amapá, Mato Grosso, RondôNia, and Caatinga. Flowers are visited by Amazilia fimbriata, Black-throated Mango, Golden-tailed Sapphire, and White-necked Jacobin.
