They are native to Espirito Santo, Pará, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Amazônia, Mata Atlântica, RondôNia, Cerrado, Maranhao, Caatinga, Tocantins, SãO Paulo, Amapá, Bahia, Acre (Brazil), Mato Grosso, Roraima, GoiáS, Piauí, Paraná, Minas Gerais, and Distrito Federal. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Planalto Hermit, Hyacinth Visorbearer, Swallow-tailed Hummingbird, and Fork-tailed Woodnymph.
