Cinchona glandulifera Ruiz & Pav.

This species is known from relatively few collections, and can be subtle to identify. Cinchona glandulifera can be recognized by its leaves with acarodomatia (that is, small cavities on the lower surface where the secondary veins unite with the midvein, where tiny mites live) together with its stiff-textured leaves with quite short petioles and relatively small flowers, with the corolla tube only ca. 5-5.5 mm long. This species is similar in general aspect to the widespread and more common species Cinchona calisaya, which differs in its longer petioles and larger flowers, with the corolla tube 8-13 mm long.
