Heteropogon melanocarpus (Sweet Tanglehead) is a species of annual herb in the family true grasses. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to ParaíBa, Cerrado, Rio Grande Do Norte, Amazônia, The Contiguous United States, Ceará, and GoiáS. They have simple, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 2.5 m.
