Description

Glabrous perennial herb, producing annual stems to 30 cm high from a woody rootstock. Leaves numerous, sessile, spreading to reflexed; lamina linear-lanceolate, to 30 × 5 mm, rounded and apiculate at the apex. Cymes usually clustered in terminal umbels. Cyathia c. 3-5 mm, broadly cup-shaped; glands 4-7, rounded, 2-horned or crenulate, bright yellow. Male flowers many; female 1. Capsule deeply 3-lobed, borne on a pedicel up to 1.5 cm long. Seeds ovoid, slightly flattened.

provided by Flora of Zimbabwe
Widespread from Cameroon, Sudan and Ethiopia through East Africa, the DRC and Angola, and in our area in Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
