Description

provided by AmphibiaWeb articles
A large Hyperolius (33–37 mm) from the forest in western West Africa. Dorsum green or olive brown with a broad light canthal stripe, or a light triangle on the snout and broad light dorsolateral stripes of varying length, sometimes terminating just behind the eye but sometimes continuing to the groin. The dorsolateral stripe is not connected to the frontal triangle or canthal stripe. Ventrum bluish green. No light spot on heel. Gular sac of males yellow, limbs and toes green. There is very little difference in size between the sexes and there does not seem to be a juvenile and female phase. Pupil horizontal. The tadpole has the usual dentition for the genus and has long labial papillae. The tail is long and the eyes are rather large. This account was taken from "Treefrogs of Africa" by Arne Schiøtz with kind permission from Edition Chimaira (http://www.chimaira.de/) publishers, Frankfurt am Main.
