LSID urn:lsid:marinespecies.org:taxname:513804In this species the frontal notch is only faintly developed. The subgenus Rhabdobrissus Cotteau, 1889 was errected for species with no frontal notch. Some authors have raised this name to a genus level rank. Without a more detailed study, including molecular data, the significance of this character remains unclear, particulalry for species that have an intermediate character state.
