Clarias gariepinus (African Catfish) is a species of ray-finned fishes in the family labyrinth catfishes. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to Cameroon, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Mali, Guinea, Ethiopia, Jordan, Ghana, Zambia, Eritrea, Botswana, Sudan, Lebanon, Chad, Mozambique, Egypt, Malawi, Syria, Libya, Central African Republic, Algeria, Togo, Senegal, Angola, Israel, Benin, Burkina Faso, Somalia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Democratic Republic Of The Congo, Africa, Turkey, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland, and Niger. They are omnivores. Individuals can grow to 170 cm. They have sexual reproduction. They rely on swimming to move around.
