The sooty darter (Etheostoma olivaceum) is a species of freshwater ray-finned fish, a darter from the subfamily Etheostomatinae, part of the family Percidae, which also contains the perches, ruffes and pikeperches. It is endemic the eastern United States. It is found in the Cumberland River basin where it is found only in the lower portion of the Caney Fork system and nearby tributaries in central Tennessee. It inhabits streams and creeks occurring in pools and their nearby riffles. This species can reach a length of 8 centimetres (3.1 in) TL though most only reach about 5 centimetres (2.0 in).^[2]

Etheostoma olivaceum is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van de echte baarzen (Percidae).^[1] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1979 door Braasch & Page.

橢圓鏢鱸為輻鰭魚綱鱸形目鱸亞目河鱸科的其中一種，分布於美國田納西州Cumberland河流域，體長可達8公分，棲息在岩石底質的池塘、溪流，屬肉食性，以水生昆蟲為食，雄魚具護卵的行為。
