A rather generalized Leporinus (body not very elongated, mouth not inferior, anterior nostrils not very long, inferior symphisial teeth developed but not laterally compressed) of the fasciatus group, sharing with the sub-group comprising L. desmotes, L. yophorus, and L. pearsoni the possession of relatively few (6 or 7), partly divided, transverse bars, and unique in the form of these bars (Ref. 39245).

Leporinus bleheri

Leporinus bleheri is a species of Leporinus widely found in the Iténez-Guaporé River basin in South America.[1] This species can reach a length of 14.2 centimetres (5.6 in) SL.[2]

Etymology

It is named in honor of the explorer and ornamental-fish wholesaler Heiko Bleher (b. 1944), who collected the type specimen.[3]
