Dorsal fin origin on same level as anal fin.

Potamodromous. Migrating within streams, migratory in rivers, e.g. Saliminus, Moxostoma, Labeo. Migrations should be cyclical and predictable and cover more than 100 km.

Dorsal spines (total): 0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 27 - 34; Analspines: 0; Analsoft rays: 23 - 29

Affinities: M. meronai. Relatively close to M. furcidens which is found in the same geographic setting in Côte d'Ivoire. A fractional spawner (Ref. 10605; 10606).
