Can be diagnosed by the combination of the following characters: slender body (body depth 28.22-33.90% SL) and caudal peduncle (depth of caudal peduncle 10.10-11.43% SL), large eyes (eye diameter 33.30-39.04% HL), reduced posterior chamber of air-bladder and terminal mouth (Ref. 26748).
Life Cycle

Female has an ovipositor which is used to deposit eggs inside bivalves. Young remain in the bivalve until they can swim (Ref. 43281).
Biology

Found in lakes in shallow waters up to 10 m deep among dense vegetation. Feeds mainly on Spirogyra, Microcystis and Bacillariophyta (Ref. 26748).
