Eye small, decreasing in relative size with growth; occipital processus widely separated from first interneural bone; juveniles as well as adults bluish on the back and sides, with a darkened area in front of the dorsal fin (more noticeable in juveniles); undersides of head and abdomen pale, and edges of upper and lower caudal fin lobes whitish (Ref. 42510).
