Description: slender-bodied; snout relatively long and pointed; caudal fin rounded; dorsal, anal fin and pelvic fin rays much more elongated in males than in females (Ref. 52307).Coloration: basic body coloration olive brown, with yellow to orange opercles, and a red blotch above eye; 5-6 dark vertical bars may be visible on body; males with brownish bars on dorsal fin; upper half of caudal fin yellowish to pale orange with some horizontal brown stripes, lower half with 7-8 vertical rows of red dots; anal fin color pattern similar to that of lower half of caudal fin; females with yellow cheeks, yellow to orange dorsal fin and caudal fin without specific patterns but yellow in the center and reddish towards the outer parts; anal fin uniformly bluish; belly of ripe females dark violet; some females with a black blotch with a whitishouter ring in soft dorsal fin (Ref. 52307).
